This document is far from complete. Especially the early years still have large gaps, events in the Netherlands and Britain are still missing, too. If you have anything that could be helpful, please drop me a line. I'd be especially happy about exact dates to some of the undated events already mentioned here.
date fandom media events
1980s
mainly proto-fandom influences, except for the occasional European getting hooked up with the American fandom, no specific European furry fandom per se.
Early influences include American-made fanzines and comics, both independent and mainstream, as well as European publications such as Hinz&Kunz, very early Brösel cartoons and other national publications.
1989 ConFurence 0 held in the United States, widely regarded as the first exclusively furry convention.
1990
alt.fan.furry founded as alt.fan.albedo, main Usenet exchange for the European furries during the first half of the decade.
1991
1992
1992 FurryMuck established.
1993
1994
Exact date unknown SPR MUCK founded at the Ctrl-C computer society of Linköping University, Sweden - first furry-themed MUCK in Europe.

Cheetah, der grosse Volksheld, opfert ein jahr seines Lebens, um fuer eine Lizenzgebuehr von 3.60 DM pro Exemplar, Inherit the Earth fuer den Amiga zu portieren
February 11 First post regarding EF2 (by Hurga), team of organizers: Hurga, Raschkar, Cheetah, unci.
Our suggestion is to hold it from Friday, 28th June till Monday,
1st July at Linköping (Sweden). That's the time of summer
holidays for most, and it's bright until late up there. :)
Martin Gauffin (DivineVixen) and Henrik Isacsson (Snout) have
already offered to host EuroFurence 2 at the students
organization, where they can offer rooms and plenty of sleeping
space. The town is southwest of Stockholm, on the way to Malmö.
Southern Sweden is a strategically good location, because it's
in the middle of Finland, Britain and Germany, where most
Eurofurries live. Even though Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog is a very
pleasant location, it doesn't seem reasonable to hold
EuroFurence there again, because the place was already crowded
with 20 People, and we're sure there will be even more
attendees this time.

July 18 - July 22 EuroFurence 2 held in Rydsskolan, Ryd, Linköping, Sweden. Attendance is around 35.
