I do not believe that my case was ever seriously reconsidered. I think what happened is that the others staffers went to you (Matthew), then you told them a story about all the bad things I had supposedly done. So, what could they do other than accept whatever you said? I was not there, I had no chance to argue my case or confront my accusers, nor was I even given a clear idea of what I had been accused of. My ban is both unfair and in contradiction to SPR's publicly posted policies. As long as I remain unfairly banned from that service, I will continue to protest. > To the abuse coordinator: My name is Mathew Butler. I sent several > missives back in 1999 and 2000, from the email addresses winged@voidnet. > com and winged@spastic.org, complaining about Tony Belding’s > refusal to stop harassing me and my site maintainers. He now has a > static IP with your company – I request that you block that IP from > connecting to the IP address 130.236.252.41 (resolving to spr.ctrl-c.liu. > se, and tassmoj.ctrl-c.liu.se). To the abuse coordinator at Hometown Computing: I am Tony Belding. I have never harassed Mathew Butler or any of his fellow staffers of SPR MUCK. I have contacted some of them very occasionally to ask politely that they consider the reasons why I was banned from that service. I do not believe that any reasonable person can construe that as amounting to harassment. Furthermore, during my recent access to that site, I logged in by the normal manner and requested a character as any other user would. I was given my character by a staffer. I did not attempt to hide my identity in any way. Several staff members and many other players were aware of my presence: none of them expressed to me any objection to my presence or my behavior. > SPR (SocioPolitical Ramifications) is a social-based MUD service based > in Ryd,Sweden. It is run entirely by volunteers, of which I am one. I am > also theUShead for use of this service. Tony Belding > (tlbelding@htcomp.net) > has been banned from the use of our service for flagrant and repeated > violation of the rules that we set forth for use of this service, we > banished him, we wished never to see him again. Ever. And yet he has > still accessed, and attempted to access, SPR in violation of that ruling. To the best of my knowledge (and I am pretty sure about this), I have not violated the rules of SPR MUCK. The accusation of "flagrant and repeated violation of the rules" is nothing more or less than a lie. -- Tony Belding
