Great. Place your story on a public archive site (preferably),
or your own Homepage (If you must). Then just
e-mail me the URL, that's all I
really need. Just to attract a few readers, you probably want to also send me
a short descriptive blurb, and maybe hints on what Keywords it might be
suitable for, and what Species appear in the leading roles, or at least very
often, but none of those are absolutely necessary. If this is the first story
of yours to appear in the Index (or you want to change the data),
you probably want to also send me your homepage URL, your E-mail address, your
Alias/Furry name (and tell me whether you prefer the Alias or your RL name to
appear on your pages), and maybe even a short description/addendum for the
head of your author's page,... but none of these are absolutely necessary,
just nice to have, and they allow your slobbering fans to send you nice
e-mails/money/wanna-yiffs ;-) (Btw, note, that if you give me an e-mail but
do not specify it as being public, list it on your homepage, or otherwise make
it clear it is your public address, it'll not wind up on your author's page,
though I may use for private correspondence to you. Also note that if you prefer not to have your address listed, but instead give me an URL where contact info can be found, I can set that up accordingly (see MegaDog's page to see what I'm talking about).
For good public archive sites to place your stories, see Question 4 below.
A final word of caution (I used to think mentioning this was unnecessary, but
events have proved otherwise). You may want to check the Index for
your story before submitting it, it may already be in there
(Especially if you submitted it to one of the sites that make it a point to
keep me up to date on their stories, such as for example Furry Pleasures
does)).

<sigh> RL is sometimes unkind to us, some of you may in the near future
loose your homepage, loose your access, or even (though I hope not) loose your
life. In that sad event, wouldn't you be happy that at least something you
wrote stayed behind to continue to spread enjoyment to those who come after
you ? Now you know why I'm glad for every story that is archived on a public
archive site instead of a homepage. Please take the time.

Yes I can, if you so request. I'm in contact with several admins of public
servers. But please, if you're able to, try yourself first. If you must,
don't forget to specify explicitly that the story is yours, and you request
that I place it on a public archive site (not just on my page, there's a
difference !), as this constitutes redistributing a story, and I won't do that
without explicit permission of the author. Note that I will probably submit
your story to the appropriate archive by forwarding your e-mail, I mention this
only because there is a INET rule saying that private e-mail shouldn't be
forwarded to others without their permission, and thus I'm warning you that
by sending me those stories you've given me that permission.

I don't want to imply that any site is better than the others in this list, so
they are ordered alphabetically.
This list is also not meant to be exhaustive, there are other servers out
there (have a look at
my homepage for some other servers, especially in the
'Servers'
subsection). If you're an admin of one and want it listed
here. just drop me some e-mail with the appropriate data.

Again, my time is short, and the list of stories I have to read for the Index
is long and growing longer as you read this (by now, they seem to be coming
faster than I can keep up, which is nice, but a problem ;-) Thus, I cannot
give feedback for every story I read. I will give feedback in a few
cases, especially for the ones with a triangle, but it'll be only for a few
stories if at all, so don't depend on it. Instead, there IS a better
alternative. Have a look at the Furry Literature Mailing List
which was created specifically for the purpose of giving reviews and feedback
for budding furry writers.

Those are my own rating system for stories. If, in my own opinion, a story is
not only good, but so good as to distinguish itself from all the rest of the
stories and become 'the best of the best' so to speak, it gets that spinning
triangle. Similarly, a story that manages to be written in a moronic style,
have serious flaws and/or piss me off will get the frowning face. Though
luckily, only one story has managed to hit this rock basement of worthlessness
(IMHO). The rest of the ratings are explained above.
If an author manages to write several stories that I find worthy of the
triangle (or seldomly, a long story containing several substories that I would
have rated a triangle by themselves), without writing too many I found only
mediocre to bad, he or she will
get that triangle beside hir name in the authors list. These constitute the
authors that I really like, and whose stories I will not hesitate
to recommend.
If an author hasn't written enough stories worth the triangle,
but still tends to write well, sie will get the 'good' rating, this doesn't
mean the rating cannot increase with time as I see more stories by that author
(or decrease if that is the case). I will usually not give author ratings
without having seen a large sample of output.
As with all the ratings, this is just my
opinion, Your mileage may vary.

While I will take stories in any format, there are a few I prefer.
This being a WWW Index, HTML is of course the format of choice. It has the
added advantage that most browsers will reformat HTML Text to fit properly
into anybody's screen no matter how wide (within reason), thus making scrolling
back and forth unnecessary. Also, while there is no generally accepted standard
on how to show national characters in ASCII (or too many such
standards, depending how you look at it), there is such a standard
for HTML, making it easy to insert things such as ä, ¥, ©, or
µ into text.
Plain ASCII text is also possible, though if you use it, please format your
text to a line width of 72 chars or shorter, so it can be shown on regular
screens without undue wrapping. Hint: It's relatively easy to format Plain
ASCII into HTML (so why not have a try ? ;-).
While there are other formats such as RTF, Word Document, EBCDIC and such, not
everyone can read them, and thus they are not formats I recommend (though I
WILL include stories written in such formats). If at all possible,
reformat such files to one of the two above. If you wish, I can add pointers
to the original version beside the reformatted one (I'll need the URL's for
that to happen though ;-)

As stated in Reader Question 13 I will accept any and all
story that is anthropomorphic, regardless of other content. But don't worry, I
have probably read (and enjoyed) worse than you wrote (don't think of that as
a challenge though), so go ahead and submit it.

content. Now quit thinking I make value judgements on this and start sending
me that URL ;-)

For one, this is an Index of all furry and anthropomorphic
stories on the net. While I may state my opinion on a story, I will
never censor it by refusing it a place in this listing, I
will leave that up to my readers, who may decide to ignore a story or read it
at their own leisure. Thus, your story, no matter how bad or good will be
welcome in the Index.
Secondly, there are already quite a few stories on the Index that I feel are
a waste of good diskspace (no, I will not name them here, but let me
just point out that this is just purely my personal feeling here, which I will
not expect anyone else to share), so one more
won't harm anything. And who knows, I may like it more than you think. In
fact, I've noticed a pronouced tendency for authors to evaluate their stories
incorrectly as to how much I or their audience liked them.
At any rate, to get back to the topic at hand, all I require of a story for it
to be indexed here is that it be at least marginally anthropomorphic, and that
it be available to the WWW, and I've even made some exceptions to those rules
on occasion (but only to accept a story, never to deny it).

once, using the following layout will help us enter data as quick as possible
(leave out any lines you don't have info for, or that don't apply, but use
this exact sequence of information otherwise, one to a line except for
comments):

- Homepage URL(s)
followed by one or more of:
- Title
- Comment
- Adult Rating
- Species (All on one line, each one separated by two blanks)
- Keywords (All on one line, each one separated by two blanks)
- URL(s)
- Additional comments just for the Staff's eye.
And that should help us work it in ;-)
